What Information We Collect/How We Use It

Our registration form requests certain contact and profile information (like your name, e-mail address, and zip code). Some of the requested information is required in order to receive SPORToften services; other information is optional. The required information is clearly marked as such on the registration pages. Depending on the specific SPORToften products for which a user registers, certain category specific information will be requested. We use this additional data to personalize your SPORToften experience. By obtaining and using this information, we can provide you with the most timely, relevant and individualized service according to your preferences and interests.

However, you may include only the information you are comfortable providing. But your election to withhold certain information will limit the value of the SPORToften experience for you. So the more information we have about you, the more valuable the SPORToften experience will be for you.

In addition, we also collect information such as the identification of the server your computer is logged onto, your browser type (for example, Netscape or Internet Explorer) and whether you opened any SPORToften e-mail or advertisements delivered to you. You can add, modify or remove any of your information or control its usage by us at any time by “Changing Your Status” as set forth below.

We use all this information in five ways:

1. to provide you the most relevant, personalized, targeted information via e-mail or direct mail;
2. to send you targeted advertising via e-mail or direct mail in order to allow us to provide our service to you at no cost;
3. with your consent, to send promotions and coupons based on your interests via e-mail or direct mail;
4. to contact you for feedback and surveys via e-mail or direct mail; and
5. to send you other general information about SPORToften.

Unless otherwise indicated below, we do not share any of your information with third parties without your consent. You may grant permission for us to share certain information of yours with third parties or sponsors by electing to receive special offers and promotions. We may also provide you with opportunities to receive information about additional products and services, but we will never share your information with third parties unless you grant us consent. If you grant us consent to share your information with third parties, and then change your mind, you can tell us by "Changing Your Status", as set forth below.

Cookies

We use cookies to (i) save your password so you don't have to re-enter it each time you visit our site. You may choose not to use the cookies, in which case you should elect not to have your password stored during the registration process (this will require you to enter your password each time you want to access your information).

Security

Our site has security measures in place to protect the loss, misuse and alteration of the information under our control. Our hardware infrastructure is housed in a controlled access facility that restricts access to authorized individuals with positive identification. Our network access to the infrastructure is protected by a state of the art firewall protection system. Member information is backed up on a daily basis to protect against accidentally loss.

Reports

We prepare analyses and reports for use internally as well as for a limited number of our business partners. These reports include aggregate or segmented information about our users. The information in these reports will not identify you individually. Our business partners who have access to these reports will not be able to contact you from the information contained in the reports. We will not provide personally identifiable information to our partners without your consent.

Referral Program

As part of our referral program, you can provide contact information (like the name and e-mail address) of your friends and family whom you think would like to receive the SPORToften service. The users referred to us receive sample SPORToften e-mails, but do not become members until they confirm their interest in the service.

Links

This site, as well as the messages received as part of the SPORToften service, contain links to other sites or services. SPORToften is not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of such third party sites. If you have a question about the privacy policy of those other sites, please contact them directly.

Contests

We may run contests on our site in which we may ask you for additional information. We may also ask for information about referrals; see "Referral Program", above. We use and treat this information the same as described above.

Changing Your Status

If you would like to add, modify or remove any information in your profile, you can go to the SPORToften web site and log into your profile page to make any desired changes. This will automatically change the information contained in our database.

To unsubscribe from receiving all messages from SPORToften, you can select "stop receiving emails" in your profile.

To request that we not share your personally identifiable information with third parties (in cases where you previously granted us permission to share such information - because we do not share your personally identifiable information with third parties without your permission), you can also send a blank e-mail to privacy@sportoften.com. The request will be honored as soon as we receive it, but does not affect any information which was released to third parties with your consent prior to our receipt of such request.

To have all of your personally identifiable information removed from our database, send an e-mail request to such effect to privacy@sportoften.com. At the current time, we are not able to offer users the direct ability to delete their information from our database, but we will be happy to delete such information after we receive a request to that effect. Please be advised that by requesting that your data be removed from our database, we cannot control whether you will be registered for the service again in the future. If your intent is to cease receiving any more messages from SPORToften, it is better to merely unsubscribe verses deleting your information from our database.

Required Disclosures

SPORToften may disclose your information if SPORToften believes such disclosure is reasonably necessary: (i) to comply with the law or legal process; (ii) to protect or defend the rights or property of SPORToften or others; (iii) to enforce the Terms and Conditions or this Privacy Policy; (iv) to respond to claims that the contents of any communications violate the rights of others; (v) pursuant to a sale, merger, assignment, joint venture or other transfer or disposition of a portion or all of the assets or stock of SPORToften or its affiliated entities, or (vi) as otherwise provided herein.

Updates

The foregoing policy is effective as of May 2001. SPORToften reserves the right to change this policy at any time. Please check this page periodically for changes. Your continued use of SPORToften’s services following the posting of changes to these terms will mean you accept those changes. SPORToften will take reasonable measures to notify you if there is a material change in our privacy practices with respect to use of the information you have provided to SPORToften. SPORToften will conspicuously post these changes in our Privacy Policy. SPORToften also will post a message on the home page of its Web site that states that the Privacy Policy has been changed, and will provide a link to the Privacy Policy.
